Rahimah Embong, Ph.D. is currently Associate Professor at Department of Education, Dakwah and Islamic Civilization under Faculty of Islamic Contemporary Studies, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA), Terengganu. She began her service at UniSZA since 1 February 2013. At this time, she has been appointed as the Deputy Dean of Students Affairs and Alumni at Faculty of General Studies and Advanced Education in 15th January 2018. Previously, she was a research fellow at Research Institute for Islamic products & Malay Civilization that vigorously promoted research and publication since January 2015. In terms of academic background, she received her first degree in Bachelor (honours) in Islamic Revealed Knowledge & Heritage (major in Theology and minor in Political Science) from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 1995. Then she obtained Master Science in Educational Administration from Universiti Putra Malaysia. Finally, she struggled for her Doctor of Philosophy in Education from IIUM after completing her PhD thesis entitled “the concept of Islamic Integrated Curriculum (IIC) and its Implications for Islamic Schools in Malaysia”. She was a matriculation lecturer of IIUM from 2004-2012 and had worked with several educational institutions as teacher, academic officer, principal, administrator etc. Her experience and expertise in education to make supervision of post-graduate students (master and doctorate) in the various disciplines of education such as philosophy & thoughts, curriculum & instruction, Islamic education and so forth. Her research interests are holistic education and Islamic integrated curriculum. Her deep interest in educational world has led her to share knowledge and present papers at numerous International conferences in Malaysia, Japan, Spain, Turkey, Indonesia, Italy, United Kingdom etc.
In term of research, she actively involved in many researches in multiple disciplines such as education, international relations, humanities, social problems, psychology, politics and so forth which are funded by the University, the state government and Malaysian Ministry of Education. She also leads a few research projects which are related to Islamic integrated education and personality enhancement programme. As a university lecturer, she also involves in publication of academic books and journals. In addition, she is actively involved in various non-governmental organizations for community services at local level as well as humanitarian aid and relief at international level.
